Michigan is home to a handful of boutique roasters–shops that source and roast their own beans vs. buying ready-to-brew java from wholesalers. These local roasters are creating nuanced, locally-sourced coffees across Northern Michigan from Traverse City to Bellaire and the Upper Peninsula. There’s even a woman-owned roaster supporting women-owned suppliers in downtown Marquette.

The current iteration of what many came to know as Michigan Coffee House, Chuck Korson’s beloved roaster formerly located in the Warehouse District of Traverse City. Currently selling products seasonally at The Village at Grand Traverse Commons and year-round online.

A family-owned small batch roaster that sources and roasts high quality specialty coffee. The roastery is located in Leelanau County and also serves espresso and pastries. The space is uniquely decorated with skeletons (including a skeleton dachshund!) and dinosaurs. The roasters also offer whole beans to take home.
